Icelandic Horses

Tolt News was started in the hope to further enjoy the fun of Icelandic horses and step up to new challenges.

Martina Gates and Andrea Barber both own Icelandic horses on Long Island in New York, so it was not long before they met and became friends. Martina, her husband George and their three children own four Icelandics including their stallion Pruthur. Martina was born in Germany and is a graphic designer. Andrea Barber is an attorney. She and her husband Steve own seven Icelandic horses including their stallion Kalman. Rich Moore joined us in 2003 and is our copy editor. Rich retired first from the US Army, then from the Federal Government, and still works part time. He and his wife Pat own two Icelandic horses and live in Northern Virginia. Rich is the Vice President of the Frida Icelandic Riding Club (FIRC).

For us there is never enough information on our favorite breed. That is why we are so happy to be able to provide a forum for the dissemination of knowledge about this horse that we love so dearly. Each issue is dedicated to one Icelandic stallion in North America to help breeders select the right stallion for their mare as the breed is still young in this country. We hope you will not only read and enjoy our publication and website, but you will contribute your own pieces of knowledge to share as well.
